Living with the Voices in My Head

I do not hear voices personally, but appreciated hearing this perspective from someone diagnosed with schizophrenia who appreciates her auditory hallucinations and finds them helpful. This is mad pride in a nutshell: “symptoms”, while not always helpful as this woman’s inner voices are, are also not always bad, and may be just a sign of natural difference. Negative symptoms are often a result of trauma, but blamed on the brain.

I have a friend with schizophrenia who has a similar perspective on his visual hallucinations. It is interesting to learn what hallucinations are like from people who have them.
